BASKETBALL With only three lettermen returning from last season ' s undefeated Confer¬ ence Championship team, this year ' s team did remarkably well with three sophomores included in the starting line-up. Capt. Angey Veneziano, along with veterans Jason Seldon, and Gerald Hill, were the only players salvaged from last year ' s team. Senior Frank Jackson playing in his first year with the big blue, topped the list of newcomers, which included capable sophomores Charles Foley, John Lowe, and Robert MacGillivary. Jackson finished the season by placing the seventh highest scorer in the city, as Capt Veneziano made the top ten, fin¬ ishing in ninth position. The team finished third in the final Conference stand¬ ings with an 8 win and 6 loss record. Arthur Richards and Artie Williams rounded out the list of seniors who are graduating, and since but six will be leaving, things look bright for next season. Stan ( Red”) Cooper did a magnificent job in completing his three year reign as varsity manager. Next year ' s quintet will be captained by Dick Carey.

HOCKEY Versatile all stars, Captain Guy Meoli and three year veteran Bob Mac- Cormick, led this year ' s Double Blue sextet to a five win, one loss record, cli¬ maxed with a bid to the state wide interscholastic hockey tournament. Steve Ruggiero, Dave Terry, and Norman MacCormack headed the rest of the squad which lost but one game, and that to a powerful Technical team, that finished on top in the final Conference standings. A scheduled game with Lawrence Academy was iced-out because of poor weather conditions. In the conference final, we eked out a successful 2-1 victory over tradition¬ al old Latin. In the post-season tournament, we met one of the top teams in Malden Catholic, and were defeated by a score of 8-3. John Sullivan man¬ aged the team that brought us one of our most successful hockey campaigns of all time. Paul Kelly will captain next year ' s team that should skate well, since but five lettermen are graduating.
