CCUISINe THE C€CCIDCC$ From Is It True What They Say About Dixie to The Big Dipper . . . ' Tis quite a stay that we ' ve had in the Old Place — but most of us have enjoyed it. . We ' ve enjoyed every moment — from the day when we first thrilled at the thought of toting a real gun up Beacon Hill, when we first diligently applied ourselves to C. J. Caesar , when wc first found out that the door opposite 107 was not the entrance to the elevator , to this day, when we find ourselves cruising the corridors for the last time. . . . Let ' s go. . . . Our own Matt Horner, Art Editor of the Record and Official Shyster of the Class of 1938, has recently put himself to inconvenience no end in completing a research project, the report on which should prove breathtakingly interesting to all you lads (or, at least, should fill up a few of these lines where they need filling up). Of the thirty-four hundred students (m. j. h. reports) now attending The English High School, 80% can cook. ' Smarvelous! . . . As we go to town on this last edition, the Farewell Dance Committee is straightening out its tie and is getting ready to show the boys what a prom really should be. . Chm. Bob Kells promises an ultra-swell time. . . . The boys didn ' t mind when Tony Giannino talked of pro- pitiation with America or even when he let go with coercive dissociation of the forces — but Hay-Walla-Walla Treaty — wow! . . . Congrats to our new colonels and lieutenant-colonels and majors. . Mike Wilk, Dick Gillooly, Art Lennett, and Maury Cavanaugh are the top men now. . . . Please note that Friend Apple Abdelahad is the proud occupant of space number one in your Year Book. . . . We se: the one and only (providential favour) Sum Fun Friedman among us once again — and looking almost as if he had been out in the sun too long. ... As we fold up this last edition, Tom Maloney et cetera are returning from the slaughter (7 to 4) of the Roslindale team. City Champions. . . . PbO 2HNO., — Pb(NO, ) .. + H O. . So what I . . . Wc don ' t know of any special reason why we should — but anyway John J. Hickson — John J. Hickson — John J. Hickson. . . . The Record Staff wishes to thank (in fact, it does hereby thank) the student body and especially the Class of 1938 for the generous support given the magazine during the past year. . We wish to thank, also, the Room Councilors, who have given generously of their time and who have so actively fought for the Cause. . . . Oh, Poo on toast! mutters Art Bobrick. . ' Nuff said. . . . We hope that you like the new setup of Vour Year Book. . . . Open for congratu- lations are the following school-spirited indiwiduals: Art (of course) Curry, Franky (Dance Committee) D ' Ambrosio, Bob (Fair Harvard, thy son) Gardner, Jawgey Griffin, Johnny ( ) Keefe, Bob (so are you) Laible, Fred (tha peepul ' s cherce ) Linn, Cuddles ($$$$$$) McNulty, H. F. (not Horse-Face) Ring, Thos. (Dorchester) Robinson. Ev (ery day ' s a holiday) Sweet, Zeke (the one, the only, the original) Taylor, Dick (Math Club) Gillooly, Charlie Dare, Mel Shore, Phil .Speigel, Tony Penella, Bob Kurtzer, and of course, of course of course, the illustrious Bros. Singer, B. D. Even including (we might as well) the Chairmen Herb (Picture Committee) Morss and Joseph Joseph (Y. B. Committee) Ambuter, we have still forgotten a few of the school-spirited indiwiduals. . We ' re sorry. . . La da da, it ' s just a simple malady, explains Jim Donovan, and can be recognized by the absence from school of its victims. . . . The moment seems most opportune and stuff to congratulate Bill (The Sultan ' s Secret) Jacobs on his Alumni Committee job. . Congrats! . . . The picture of the Record Staff (thankyou ) which you will more than likely find in the vicinity of page two (oh really now, it isn ' t that good) was taken, unfortunately, in the absence of our own Ray Garran and our veddy veddy own Frank McN — etc. and just bare- ly on the right side of the absence of two other disting. gent. . . . All right, all right — We ' re not enjoying this any more than you are. . . . J. J. D. (i6j
