DAT Ey D iy (2 Mc iuUf SEPT. 9, 1937 Great Day! ' Midst the tramp of countless pounding feet and the flut- ter of many a freshman ' s heart, the portals of this great institution are thrown open and another academic year begins. SEPT. 17, 1937 To the tune of blaring bugles and the roll of rippling drums, the so- phisticated Seniors and astute Juniors parade in observance of the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution. The Blue and Blue places more cadets on the street than all the other Boston schools combined. NOV. 2, 1937 The first edition of the Record is placed on sale, a complete sellout. NOV. 5, 1937 Atoning in part for last year ' s scoreless tie, the Blue and Blue gridsters thoroughly drub a mediocre Memorial elev en by a score of 20 to o. NOV. 18, 1937 The day for the election of class officers arrives, and millions (hyper- bole) of politicians strut about in all their glory, for this is their Field Day. After a hard and bitter struggle, Frederick Linn, Frank McNulty (thank you), George Powers, Frederick Crowley, and Gerard Powers succeed in carrying off the spoils. NOV. 25, 1937 The 50th annual football classic between the arch-rivals of Boston foot- balldom, English and Latin, results in an upset by the Blue and Blue. A strongly favored Latin team is held to a scoreless tie. JAN. 6. 1938 Superior Court Justice Paul G. Kirk addresses the Senior Assembly, giv- ing much excellent advice to the potential graduates. FEB. I, 1938 Parents ' Day. A magnificent military exhibition is conducted in the Drill Hall, after which Mr. Downey and the President of the Class of ' 38 give an address of welcome to the visitors. FEB. II, 1938 The annual Blue and Blue Prom is a howling success: it shatters all previous records. The members of the Dance Committee are still strutting about, pat- ting themselves on the back for the magnificent job they did. MARCH 5, 1938 English again takes possession of what it terms its own personal property when its tracksters come out in front by a wide margin to cop the Reggie title. Mechanic Arts, which caused a major upset last year by taking away the Reg- gie title from English for the first time in many years, was far in the rear, scoring only slightly more than half as many points as the Blue and Bluers. MARCH II, 1938 It is with great sorrow that the Blue and Blue cadets watch the de- parture of their drill instructor and staunch friend. Major Joseph McK. Driscoll. He leaves for Fort Leavenworth, Texas where he is to prepare for further military honors. APRIL 8, 1938 Prize Drill, the day of reckoning for all ambitious captains, arrives. MAY 13, 1938 The social activities of the Class of ' 38 for the current year are brought to a close with the holding of the Farewell Dance in one of Boston ' s most exclusive hotels. As is to be expected, the affair is a huge success. MAY 27, 1938 Outdoor patriotic services are held, with all cadets in full dress, in com- memoration of those gallant sons of English who cheerfully sacrificed their lives. JUNE 7, 1938 Boston streets again reverberate with the tramp of marching feet as the high school cadets go swinging through the streets in the annual school-boy parade. The thousands of spectators who line the route of march are thrilled by the military bearing and the snappy steps of the gleaming cadets. JUNE 14, 1938 To the strains of Annie Lisle, graduating exercises are held in Tremont Temple with Mr. Downey officiating. There is many a saddened heart as the famous corridors of English are left behind forever. (13)
