E, H. S, Day by Day SEPT. 10, 1936 Pupils return to durance vile for ten months more with time off for the seniors if their behavior is up to par. SEPT. 1 1, 1936 Coach Ohrenberger issues call for candidates for the football team. Thirteen letter men report, and the squad shows promise. OCT. 2, 193 6 Untried English team meets Groton. English emerges victor after a hard struggle. Score 7-6. NOV. 3, 193 6 The first issue of the Record is enthusiastically received. Use of informal photographs and entire new set-up account for interest. NOV. 18, 193 6 Mighty English and powerful Memorial teams battle it out despite the freezing weather. Final score 0-0. NOV. 19, 193 6 Class elections result in Knute Nelson ' s winning the presidency with a good majority. Others elected were David H. Smith, John Nazzaro, Thomas E. Burns, and John H. Crimmins. NOV. 26, 1936 The forty-eighth annual conflict between the arch rivals of Boston football, English and Latin, ended with the Purple out in front by 13-0. DEC. 7, 193 6 The finest school cafeteria in the East is opened to E. H. S. students. It replaces the dark, ancient lunchrooms previously used. FEB. 5, 193 7 The Blue and Blue Prom is a big success with divine music and a glamorous crowd. Dance Committee is busy receiving congratulations for its fine job. FEB. 27, 1937 English tracksters, headed by co-captains Ryan and Melaugh, unexpect- edly cop state title. MAR. 6, 1937 English loses the Reggie title for the first time in 16 years. Mechanics surprises everyone and takes top honors. APRIL 16, 1937 Prize Drill, the chance of a lifetime for ambitious captains, arrives. Some officers jubilantly reahze their hopes; others are despondent over their failure. MAY 6, 193 7 This is a day of rejoicing for the Seniors as marks close for the year. The rest of the journey is a downward run. MAY 7, 1937 The Dance Committee brings its activities for the year to a close with the Farewell Prom. Of course, the affair is a complete success. JUNE 8, 1937 The recently commissioned colonels and majors strut their stuff on the main streets of Boston in full view of admiring crowds. JUNE 19, 1937 The College Boards are taken by those who wish to further their education. When the exams are over, deep sighs of relief are heard from the direction of Room 15 0.
