II € With these sentiments of respect wc entered our senior year. This was our year, a year in which many gifts, commissions not among the least, awaited our acceptance. Our football warriors, ably headed by John Daly, went through its schedule with but one defeat, that by Latin School to the tune of 13-0. Election day arrived, and the result of the hat throwing showed that we had chosen for our officers: Knute Nelson, John Nazzaro, David Smith, Thomas Burns, and John Crimmins. Thus, with capable leadership our class moved forward with great strides. In December, one of the finest cafeterias in the country was presented to us through the untiring efforts of our head- master. Not only is this an excellent lunchroom in which we eat to waltz time, but it also promised to be a perfect spot to hold the dancing class in preparation for the Blue and Blue Prom. The Prom, held in the Hotel Statler, to the music of Gene Dennis, was a tremendous success, and made the evening of February 5 one which will not be too quickly forgotten by many a senior. Time sped on bringing the State title in track to English. We look forward with confidence to a championship baseball team under versatile Roy Williams. Graduation is almost upon us. We are about to sur- lender our places and impart our ideals to those who will follow us. In this surrender we hope that we have set an example of splendid achievement to which others may look up, and on which we may reflect with satisfaction and pleasure as a reminder of days well spent in our Alma Mater, English High. Thoughts On Graduation By David H. Hunter, ' 3 7 F ' o oi t our old school h(ilh hu uicrs unf m ' lcd,, If c o-o our several ways i ito t ie world. Our sirength is in the right; no foe ive fear. JJ ell battle bravely on vear after year. JJ hat though the world seem harsh, bitter and cold. Though others lose the way, truth wc will hold. For though deception gains power and wealth, IVhat profit riches, when ' fathered by stealth? Rather, in striving to serve all mankind. Shall we achievement and happiness jind. Happiness through the years, better than gold; So shall we gather riches untold. Page Fifteen
