Nine years later it vvas nioved to its present locatuui on East Palisade Avenue. The School prospered and grew physically. The first addition was the present Alumni House. The Dramtics Club has been one of the most popular organizations. It annually presents at least one drama, occasionally adding a Christmas play. M1'cf-Century the Cilec Club was organized. Mr. Coburn, who has taken over where Nr. Yigcland left off, has also started a band. The greatest steps forward, how- ever, have been the formation of the Honor Board and the successful in- doctrination of a system of student- proctored study halls. The Honor Board was formed to assist the stu- dents in perfecting the Honor System. Thus far, the Board is proud to say that it has heard no cases. The stu- dent-proctored study halls are working well, and are developing cooperation and independence among the stu- dents. Since 1928 the School has been led bv Mr. Umpleby, an active and pro- gressive Headmaster. Mr. Beaumont, the assistant Headmaster, has also been with the school since its beginf ning. Mr. Metzger joined the facul- ty a year later, and has been with us since. Two other long-term mem- bers of the faculty are Mr. Ward, athletic director, and Mr. Drake, Principal of the Lower School. Many of the Schoo1's graduates have distinguished themselves. Per- haps our most famous graduate is Dick Button, VVor1d and Qlympic hgure skating champion and winner in 19-19 of the Sullivan Award. Out- standing scholastically, were Eddy Miller, winner in 1945 of the first Pepsi-Cola Scholarship held in New jersey, and George Myers, winner of the Cornell National Scholarship in 1947. . 1950 finds the Englewood School striving industriously and ever im- proving. XVe can be sure that its standards will continue to rise and its fine name remain high in the aca- demic world. U11
