Commander Peter J. Gaskin, ll, USNR, a native of New York was born in New York City on May 11, 1945. He attended the University of Pennsylvania on two occasions. In 1966, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in American Civilization. In 1974, he graduated from the Wharton School with a Master's in Business Administration. Commissioned in 1966, his first surface assignment was as Gunnery Assistant and DASH Officer in USS STICKELL QDD-888j. He later served as Navigator and ASW Officer in STICKELL. In july 1969, then Lieutenant Gaskin, graduated from the Department Head Course at the U.S. Naval Destroyer School in Newport, R.I. Following graduation, he reported to USS LYMAN K. SWENSON QDD-7291 where served as Operations Officer until February 1971. With Commander Naval Forces Vietnam, he served as Senior Advisor to Vietnamese River Patrol Division 62 and the Advanced Tactical Support Base at Phuoc Xuyen. From june 1974, to july 1976, he was assigned to a Financial Management billet in the Officer Distribution Division QPERS-43 of the Bureau of Naval Personnel. In October 1976, he served as Operations Officer in USS ENGLAND QCG-221. Commander Gaskin wears the Bronze Star with Combat V and the Navy Commendation Medal. Commander Sheldon L. MARC-OLIS, USN, of Baltimore, Maryland, graduated via the NROTC Program from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on 9 june 1965. He reported to USS MULLINIX in September 1966, and first served as MPA and DCA, and then as acting Chief Engineer until june 1968. Following training at Mare Island, he was assigned as OperationsfExecutive Officer of River Patrol Division 574 and operated patrol boats in the rivers of South Vietnam until February 1969. From july 1969 until june 1972, Commander MARGOLIS was assigned to the Naval Postgraduate School where he earned a Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. This was followed by tours as Operations Officer and Executive Officer in USS LOWRY QDD-770, from july 1972 until October 1973, and Combat Systems Officer in USS IOUETT QCG-29j from February 1975 to january 1977. ln February 1977, Commander MARGOLIS reported to the Naval Ship Weapon System Engineering Station, Port Hueneme, where he served as At-Sea Test Director for the Aegis and COXSM-2 missile systems development programs. Commander MARGOLIS reported to ENGLAND after being Officer-ln-Charge of the Aegis Combat System Engineering Development site in Moorestown, New jersey from November 1979 until November ' 1980. Commander MARGOLIS detached from ENGLAND 17 luly 1982, and will take Command of USS LYNDE MCCORMICK QDDG-Bj. Commander MARGOLIS holds the Bronze Star with Combat V , Meritorious Service Medal, Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon and various unit citations, campaign and service medals.
