sition under the capable guidance of Mr. Leonard DeMaio. Mr. Rocco Autorino, an accomplished vocalist in his own right, is the man in the director ' s chair when our mixed and select choruses take to the ris- ers for a performance. The vocal class which he conducts helps the student gain confidence in his solo work, improve his vocal technique, and realize the pjotential of his own voice . The Music Department which h . been consistent in turning out fine music students with college ac- ceptance rate of 85 percent, has also received nu- merous awards and grants . 1 FROM LEFT TO RIGHT : Mr . Rocco Autorino , Mr. Leonard DeMaio and Mr. Dana Hawes. The Music Department of Enfield High School encompasses three areas of specialization; instru- mental , classroom and vocal music . The instrumental area, under the direction of Mr. Dana Hawes, includes the marching and concert bands, as well as a string ensemble and individual instrumental study. The classroom curriculum is aimed to accom- modate three different kinds of student: the gener- al student, who may include the History of Ameri- can Music or Electronic Music in his studies; the college bound liberal arts and elementary education majors and the music minors, who would take His- tory of European Music; and the advance music majors, who would study music theory and compo-

Regardless of ethnic and economic backgrounds, we all share certain commonalities; we all are a part of a family, and we are all consumers. How- ever, many individuals do not have an opportunity to understand or to develop the skills necessary to deal with problems related to ourselves, our fam- ilies and society in general. In an attempt to meet the changing needs and inter- ests of students, the Physical Education Department of Enfield High offers a wide variety of activities. These activities include many individual sports such as arch- ery, tennis, golf, badminton, handball, paddle ball, table tennis and trampoline. It also offers such team sports as speedball, team handball, volleyball, flag football, soccer, softball and field hockey. Also in- cluded are such activities as yoga , jogging and general conditioning through use of the universal gym , Tenth grade students participate in a structured pro- gram which includes both team and individual sports with emphasis on fundamentals and knowledge to pre- pare them for a selection of activities as juniors and seniors . Seniors and juniors are required to take physical education and also have the opportunity to select from a wide range of activities that are offered.
