Home Economics In preparation for the future, the Home Economics Depart- ment at Enfield High offers a diversified and practical curricu- lum. Girls are taught the fundamentals that are necessary in the managing of a home: cooking, sewing and child care. This year, Home and Family was again offered to senior boys and girls. The course prepares one for marriage and raising a family. The child care program was lengthened this year to enable the students to intensify their study. Route 91 here we come! as well as the practical skills of life, Driver Education In the forming of good driving habits, the experience gained this year in Driver Education has proved valuable. In the course, a sportsmanlike attitude is stressed, so that students can be best prepared to handle driving situations as they arise. The simulated cars with driver-training movies are most realistic and take the place of much actual experience. This course is most advantageous for people learning to drive and for students who already have their license. Qualified instructors, substantial materials, and an informative text provide conscientious students with an adequate background for safety in driving. “And this is the watchamacallit.” 17

Physical Education Throughout our four years at Enfield High School, physical education has played a major role in the development of each student. A wide variety of sports is offered in the athletic program. All classes learn the “universal sports”: soccer, basketball, and volleyball. Complete education does not consist of only writing themes or ruffling a book’s pages; the shouts of victory, the acceptance of defeat, and learning to function with others toward a single goal—those are the aims of physical education, and those aims help mold us into “complete” individuals.
