“And then my sons. Tommy and Mike .. We developed inquiring individualistic minds Social Studies The Enfield High School Social Studies Department has made great strides in the creation and development of a dynamic and personal social studies program for the students. It is a program which does not end in the classroom. Rather, it is expanded into the realm of individual research and inquiry. The inducement for this extra-curricular activity that results from the stim- ulating clasess, is heightened further by the excellent facilities of the Social Studies Lab. It includes nearly all forms of media: audio, visual, and research aids. Yet, the purpose of the Social Studies Department goes beyond even the classroom and lab. Problems of Democracy and Modern World Problems begin to give America’s future leaders a sound foundation for active citizenship and an awareness of the world which they soon will encounter. The Enfield High Social Studies Department has suc- ceeded in achieving a unity, where these diverse and seemingly incongruous fragments, like mosaic pieces, all fall into a general pattern, the pattern we call humanity.
