Lieutenant Commander Charles R. SCH LEGELMILCH hails from Yankton, South Dakota. After having lived in various parts of the world as an Army dependent, he attended lvlarquette University under the NROTC Program and was -commissioned an 'f Ensign, United States Navy, in 1961. ' During his initial tour on th'e'destroyer USS HARRY E. HUBBARD lDD-7481 he served as Anti-submarine Warfare Officer, Electronics Material Officer and Combat Information Center Officer. After reassignment to USS BRINKLEY BASS lDD-8871 in 1963, he served as Operations Officer until reporting to the Fleet Airborne Electronics Training Unit at San Diego, California, where he was Surface ASW Instructor. During the initial build-up in Viet Nam, LCDR SCH LEGELMILCH volunteered for duty with Naval Advisory Group, MACV, and was assigned as a Coastal Group lJunk Forcel Advisor. Following completion of a one-year tour, he extended for a second year in Viet Nam as a Coastal Surveillance Center Operations Officer and an Aerial Observer for Operation MARKET TIME. ln May of 1967, LCDR SCHLEGELMILCH was assigned to OPNAV as Assistant Secretary to CNO for JCS matters. He assumed command 'of USS ENDURANCE lMSO-4351 on 28 June 1969 during a WESTPAC deploymentp he was relieved of command in Subic Bay on 20 December 1970, and departed for his new duty as the Vietnam placement Officer in the Bureau of Naval Personal. LCDR DONALD A. STOUFER LCDR Donald A. STOUFER was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on lVlarch 1937. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School, Council Bluffs, Iowa, and completed his college education at the State University of Iowa, Iowa City, where he graduated in 1961. LCDR STOUFER was commissioned on 9 February 1962 at the Officer's Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. Following his commissioning, he served as Operations! Communications Officer on the Radar Picket Ship USS TRACER IAGR-15l until October of 1963, he was then reassigned to the USS TAYLOR CDD-4681, homeported in Pearl Harbor. During his three years aboard the USS TAYLOR, LCDR STOUFER served as CIC Officer and later as Operations Officer. In September of 1966, LCDR STOUFER was ordered to the Bureau of Naval Personnel, where he served as a Surface Junior Officer Assignment Officer until November of 1968. He was then ordered to the Naval Post Graduate School, IVlonterey, California where he earned his lVlaster's Degree in the field of Naval Management in December of 1969. Following several short schools LCDR STOUFER assumed command of the USS ACIVIE IIVISO-508l on 10 lVIarch 1970. Following decommissioning of the USS ACIVIE, LCDR STOUFER assumed command of the USS ENDURANCE on 20 December 1970. LCDR STOUFER is married to lVIary Kathryn Rose of Canton, Illinois. They have two children, Robert, nine and Steven, five. The STOUFER's are currently residing in Huntington Beach, California. Commanding Officer
