HORIZON, 1964 $$ G94 Y, ee ae Vibe âo ENCINAL HIGH SCHOOL ALAMEDA, CALIFORNIA SS PUBLISHED BY THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS CATHY CECCHETTIN[, EDITOR Happiness is a basic element in any society. In the form of laughter it serves as an outlet for human anxiety. Without such an expression life would become a mechanical process. The âPeanuts characters of Mr. Charles Schulz carry out this idea in the 1964 Horizon. They bring amusingly to life all of our familiar human experiences. Encinal High was proud this year to have Anne Dawson of England going here to school. This year's American Field Service student lived with senior Verdery Doolittle. Anne took a part in many activities during the 1963-64 school year, among them the lead role in Encinal's senior play, an original drama, âLights Out For Romeo. WELCOME TO ENCINAL HIGH SCHOOL. BELL Our Principal A combination of three factors has given Encinal High School a reputation for providing students, faculty and staff with a happy and harmonious environment in which to work productively. One factor is the concern and high regard for education that parents of our school community have shown. This is manifested by their providing not only one of the finest physical plants in the area butâmore importantâby their attitude of pride, cooperation and respect toward all phases of school life. A second factor is the sincere interest each faculty and staff member has for his students. Every effort is made to bring out the best that is in each student. To achieve this, many hours are devoted to self-improvement and advanced study in order to give students the best education pos- sible. The final and most important factor is that which is reflected in the attitude of our student population wherein a mature approach to school life is most apparent. Respect for faculty and fel- low students, personal loyalty and school spirit are in evidence on every side. | am proud to be a part of a school which is characterized by such a happy and harmonious environment. We are indebted to Charles Schulz and ''Pea- nuts'' for the interest shown in our yearbook and for the âhappinessâ theme. To Mr. Robert Reilly, editorial advisor; Mr. Clar- ence Kline, business advisor; Cathleen Cecchettini, editor, and the Horizon staff, | wish to express my appreciation for bringing this fine book to our school.
