The New School Building LR present school board has taken an important progressiye step towards the advancement of education in this county Realizing the inadequacy of the present high school build ing thev have taken steps toward building a new school Thi .xl building will be a modern up to date building in all respects il On the main floor will be a large library and auditorium with ui an 800 seat ng capacity recitation rooms and offices The ground floor will contain the gymnasium boys and girls shower baths and dressing rooms domestic science room and manual train ng shops The heating and ventilatmg system will also be placed on this floor The top floor will contain a laboratory and tv.o classrooms We realize th t we are very fortunate in having been able to study under sueh a corps of competent teachers as we have had Then mam interests have been for the advancement of the school and the better ment of we pupils Where can one find such a supervising principal s Mr Lord with his wide range of knowledge and his sincerity in the promotion of the schools welfare If you wish to know of anything that happened ages ago ask Mr Pontzer who has a wonderful ability in remembering historical facts Mr Lyons the youngest member ot the faculty knows all there IS to know about Latin and mathematics -X gymnasium instructor and mathematician Miss McQuay proves very ef fieient Miss Zimmer eheerfullv passes on to others the knowledge she has gained pertaining to science Although Mr Husted and Miss Youngren haye been with us for only one xeal we haye profited very mueh undei the r supervision Taken all in all Emporium High School has a faculty of which it may well be proud We 23 Athletics Faken as a whole the athletics of the year have been very successful. At the beginning of the season we found vue had very little equipment therefore the first thing to be done was to raise money to buy foot ball suits. By hard work this was accomplished and we had a neat looking team. The team showed its appre-iation by working hard and putting forth their best efforts in all the games. We also bought new basket ball suits as we always took a great pride in our appearance but we did not stop thereg we won the majority of our games. VS hen it came to buying base ball suits we found we did not have any' money in the bank but one of Emporium s most highly respected citizens 'VIr. Arkwright came to our rescue and presented us with suits that the Iron Company team used last year, which vsere in Erst class condition and we ss ere more than thankful for them.
