Roger Eickholt, President Student at t il nu' Norman Hothouse, Vice-President Decorating the Rotunda Christmas tree was just one of the many projects of the Student Council. With the beginning of the school year, the Council returned early to assist with Freshman Orientation Week. During this time they sponsored dances, a talent show, and tours of the campus. The Homecoming dance, sponsored annually by the Student Council, was held on campus this year tor the iirst time. Admission was limited to students and alumni. Music was provided by The Hilltoppers. After each home varsity football and basketball game, the council entertained visitors and students with a varsity dance. The council also sponsored concerts by George Shearing and Chris Barber. The Central Inter-Collegiate Conference of As- sociated Student Councils was sponsored by the Council bringing student leaders from all CIC col- leges to the Emporia campus. Other projects of the Council included a leader- ship course, an organization room, Student Council workshop, Student Council calendar, high school leadership workshop, election rules, penny carnival, and changes in the Student Council constitution.
