Dr. Thomas F. Chilcote came to Emory and Henry with a background centering largely around the Methodist Church. The son of a Methodist minister, Dr. Chilcote pastored Methodist churches in Pennsylva- nia, Massachusetts, and Tennessee, after having received his B.A. degree from the University of Pittsburgh. After enrolling at Boston University School of Theology, he earned a Master of Divinity degree in 1943, and, in 1955, he was awarded an honorary degree. Doctor of Divinity, at the University of Chattanooga. His career has included serving as news editor of The Christian Advocate, as the managing editor of The New Life Magazine, and as a delegate to various Methodist Conferences. Dr. Chil- cote has travelled extensively in the Middle East, Canada, and the continental United States, and has authored several books, the most recent. Creation and Liberation, to be available this year. Dr. Chilcote now directs his attention to serving the Emory and Henry College com- munity, and in this new involvement, he notes with evident pride that ... at no time in its history has the College more eagerly fostered efforts to accord worthful- ncss to each person ...” 23
