Alpha Beta Chi The year ’58—!59 found A.B.X. entering its thirtieth year. Thirty years of close sisterhood, laughter, loyalty, fun, fellow- ship — the intangible qualities that bind us into a sorority. Fall found us working hard at Homecoming and proud of Sara, the Queen. We also welcomed two new sponsors. Dr. and Mrs. Loren Dow, and Dr. and Mrs. Robert Miclkc. The winter was Tilled with a formal tea, goating, spaghetti suppers, the function, the Christmas party, and the Snow Ball. Spring found us busy with rustling at our traditional carnival. It was function time again with our annual out- ing at the park. At last we find ourselves looking back over our college year with wonderful memories of A.B.X. FIRST ROW: Jeanne Atkins. Kappa Phi Alpha Our K Phi sisters’ first outstanding event of the year was the annual Sock Hop presented for the entire student body. We were happy to have Judy Dawson, chosen by our brother fraternity, Phi Gamma Phi, as their Sweetheart of '58. A “Hillbilly Holiday” was the fall rush party theme. Dinner and dancing was enjoyed by all the sisters in November at the Virginia House with an Autumn Interlude theme. The traditional Christmas Party, collar days, Pirate Party and final initiation completed the year for the sisters joined by a motto, Truth, Beauty, and Loyalty. We were happy to have Dr. and Mrs. Naylor, Coach and Mrs. Bailey, our alumni sister “Cathy” and Bill Bennett as sponsors, with Dot and “Connie” Culberson, our Honorary sponsors. FIRST ROW: Hilda Arnold. Barbara Bailey, Thcola Bear, Ann Brown, Peggy Cooper. Judy Dawson. SECOND ROW: Aim Dutton, Steb Dutton, Helen Edlridge, Judy Gordon, Vivian Hudson, Bonnie Hunt (See.). THIRD ROW: Mary Beth Hunt (Vice Pres.), Sue Lconhardt. Linda Miller. Virginia Mills, Carol Osborne. Rita Pccktal (Pres.). FOURTH ROW: Jenny Rowland, Gail Smith, B. J. Spurgeon, Sandy Swafford (Trcas.), Bette Turner, Jan Ward. NOT PICTURED: Ann Looney.
