Band, Concert Club perform well in school and community Busying themselves with not only school but community activities as well, the Band and Concert Club both maintained their reputations as one of the best. Concert Club, previously known as Girl ' s Glee Club, sang carols at Christmas time at Lafayette Square and on Monument Circle. They participated in an all-city festival with other female groups from In- dianapolis high schools. The Redskin Marching Band en- tertained at home football games with their show, The Way West. Performing during a muddy down- pour, the Band received a second division in the controversial ISMA contest. Despite this setback, the Band attended I.U. Band Day in Bloomington and marched in the 500 Festival and pre-race parades. Plans were made to attend the Indiana State Fair contest the fol- lowing August. Pep Band helped spark enthusi- asm by playing at basketball games. Concert Band performed at grade schools to promote interest in high school music. It also attended the ISMA playing contest. Band and Concert Club gave a spring concert and joined with all members of the music department for the annual May Festival. The Manual Marching Band, under the batons of Drum Majorettes Nancy Ellis and Marcia Mueller, lead the Homecoming parade.
