Musical experience is gained by both choir, orchestra groups Before the Choir picture, Benita Strait and Michelle Kemp give a last minute, woman ' s touch to Larry Hathaway ' s hair. Orchestra and Choir explored the worlds of music through not only individual practice, but through much experience in performing. Modern and classical music were studied daily in preparation for the many musical performances of the year. The Orchestra received a new di- rector in Mrs. Jacqueline Meyer. They performed in Christmas pro- grams at the Med Center and at St. Francis hospital. They also played at Vespers and for night school com- mencement. The holiday season brought with it a flurry of activity for the Choir. Their voices were heard on Monu- ment Circle, at the Statehouse, and at the Education Center. Carols were also sung at grade schools. Members of both organizations attended the ISMA solo-ensemble contest, had a concert, and parti- cipated in the May Festival. Many Manual students have de- cided to continue music through college. Manual ' s music depart- ment has always and still does pro- vide an excellent background for such future endeavors.
