Senior Bob LaFara, Ivian photographer, caught the star trail pattern around the North Star in a four-hour time exposure as part of his astronomy study in Earth Science. Jim Odom and Teddy Patrick net an insect near Pleasant Run for their bug collection for Biology, a course most of us take since the state requires two years of science for high school graduation. v» •-■ ' ' i :. ,

Social Studies Involve Campaigning, Voting Films are an essential part of the Social Studies curriculum. Here, a World History class gains further knowledge about India and its former leader, Gandhi. U.S. History, Government, and Econo- mics classes also view their share of films. TABBERT PQWEJLL B0 »« ;fl November 3, was election day for Manual students as well as adult voters. All pupils in Social Studies classes voted in the Auditorium dur- ing their class periods. Posters for both local and national candidates added a touch of realism for Manual- ites as they lined up at the polls. All students who wished to vote had to register. Unlike regular registra- tion the student was only required to place his name on the voting list. Here Ronnie Hines and Linda Kautsky check to make sure nothing is overlooked while Peggy Wheeler waits to pass out the ballot. Voting machines were not available, but Manual ' s stage crew constructed voting booths in which students could mark their secret ballots. The long paper ballot contained names of major candidates of the four parties. Manual, like state and nation, went Democratic down the line.
