(fcawivta Pai i Interest sparked in the classroom often leads to participation in extracurricular activities, and from these we grow socially. Among other clubs, the senior honoraries, Masoma and Roines, lend many a helping hand around school, especially to incoming freshmen. Thus do we fill our busy afternoons with activities- each one a keystone in our growing world.

Hundreds of Masomas and Roines Serve Manual As part of their service program, Masomas polish the school ' s trophies. Sue Byers, Susan Peters, Diane Lindley, and Madeline Watts regard the finished products of their elbow grease. Gold is an especially significant color for both Masoma and Roines this year since both clubs are celebrating their Golden Anniversaries. Their fifty years of existence have produced many loyal alumni who are still active in their alumni groups as well as in the school ' s organization. Masoma, begun in 1914 by Miss Ida M. Rhem, was originally organized as a service club for senior girls. Today, Masoma is an honor organization of senior girls who perform special duties for the school. This year marked the retirement of Miss Elizabeth Goett, Masoma sponsor since 1958. Mrs. Betty Baker, who was a Masoma when she attended Manual, is the present sponsor. For new Masomas the service program begins at the spring Athletic Banquet. Pledges arrive early in the afternoon to arrange tables. Following a free dinner, the waitresses prepare for the ensuing on- slaught. Other affairs at which the girls served were the fall Athletic Banquet and the Indianapolis Eng- lish Teachers ' Club ' s Tea.
