Hawkins, Jr., Hawkins ' Pharmacy, Manual ' 51, a guest speaker on Oppor- tunity Day, a day set aside to inform pupils about various careers. Teacher and pupil visitors to the Projects Fair view work by art classes. Parents and patrons attend in the evening after P-TA. The annual Student Project Fair displays work from each department in school. At the top is a project from the science department showing the manner in which crystals grow. Karen Smith receives a National Council of Teachers of English first citation for outstanding work in English from Mr. Richard Blough, head of the English Department. Bill Styring and Judy McBride receive congratulations from Mr. Howard Thrall on their placement in the National Merit finals. We Step Up To Receive School Honors Bandmaster William Kleyla, Captain Janice Ryder, Drum Major Diane Eickhoff, and Lieutenants Ron Busch, and Dave Bramlett pose behind a collection of Band Kiwanis trophies. Manual ' s Marchers won these awards for the most outstanding city football band for eight out of nine years. 20
