Moms, Dads Number Among Our Best Fans Many of our parents are ardent Manual fans and follow Redskins ' performances on the big auditorium stage, as well as on the field and in the gym. They really help out when they become members of the Parent-Teachers Association and Dads Club. These organiza- tions have as their sole purpose aid to Man- ual. They work together to sponsor projects which provide fun and entertainment for Manualites and also raise money for various extras around the school and for scholarships. This year ' s big money-making projects helped to finance the installation of the equipment used in our new television classes. The P-TA ' s one big activity, the annual Pow Wow, April 28, included a supper in the cafeteria, games and booths in the gym, and a vaude- ville show, presented by students, in the audi- torium. Dads Club members manned the con- cession stands at Delevan Smith Field during football season, and at the gym during basket- ball season. Their annual fish fry, in Septem- ber, and the Italian Spaghetti Supper in Feb- ruary, also helped the Dads meet their budget. Manualites try for lucky-numbered fish for prizes at the Pow Wow. Guest speakers invited to a coffee in the library before their scheduled meetings were served by Home Economics Department faculty members. Here, Mrs. Wanda Long pours coffee for a guest. Manualites Hear Advice on Future Jobs, College Mr. Lewis W. Gilfoy, Supervisor of Secondary Education, answers a question for Judy McBride after his session. Opportunity Day at Manual, which is sched- uled in January, is set aside for looking into the future and thinking about what lies ahead. Manualites attend special sessions to learn of careers and colleges in which they are in- terested. An auditorium speaker in November directed our thoughts to plans for the future; and after this program, we signed up for the Opportunity Day session we preferred. On Opportunity Day, guest speakers from many different businesses gave information on vocations; and representatives from Indiana colleges informed college-bound students of entrance requirements and curricula. Man- ualites acted as chairmen, assisting and intro- ducing the speakers. Our guests were invited to a coffee in the library before their sched- uled meetings. After the programs, the speak- ers toured the building and then were served lunch in our cafeteria by members of the Boys ' Foods Class. Linda Hansen, student chairman for the Butler Univer- sity session; Miss Judy Rodman, Manual teacher; and Mrs. Sheila Broberg, Butler Admissions Counsslor and the speaker, greet Mr. Wallace S. Sims, member of the Board of School Commissioners, who looked-in on our Opportunity Day.

' 6 Revue Includes From Cavemen Times To Space A ge The 1961 Redskin Revue was a spectacular presentation given on Friday and Saturday nights, March 24 and 25. The production in- volved hours of work and many people. Mem- bers of the four casts began rehearsals weeks in advance and finished off the last two weeks with several night rehearsals. Costumes were a joint effort on the parts of parents, cast members, and faculty sponsors. Sequins, rib- bons, and yards of various kinds of cloth, left stores in great quantities and made their way into homes of the participants. Mr. Carl Wright ' s stage crew became set designers and builders for the year ' s largest production. Dress rehearsal was the last chance for faculty and student sponsors to get together and polish the acts. Efforts were rewarded the nights of the show when we Manualites en- joyed the fruits of our labor. Individual awards were presented on Friday night. Mem- bers of the winning act, Like Schoolsville, captured two of these including the winning chorus line. Shirley Kratowicz received the best-actress award. Author-directors of Like Schoolsville, the award win- ning act, were Mary Jane Winstead, Sharon Todd, and Tim Brown. The Cup was presented Saturday night. The best-actor trophy went to Steve Miller of Cave Man Capers. Billie Myers of Those Idiotic Earthlings, earned the best comic portrayal award. A trio of tap dancers — Tom Baxter, Jackie Baker, and Martha Dexter — ■ was named best team, It ' s Getting Dee:). Like Schoolsville, named Best Act by a committee of guest judges, was set in a school for beatniks. Victoria Van Snob (Jennie Perry), a cool chic from the outside world, arrived intending to register. However, Big Daddy (Rex Anderson), the principal of the school, fell for her, decided there were better things outside their Jive world, and prepared to leave. Faculty sponsors were Miss Phyllis Creve and Miss Judy Rodman. 22
