Throughout Year, We Dance at Hops, Formats Reflecting on the year ' s social events at Man- ual, we see that dances played an important role in extra-curricular activities. The 1960- 61 season began with the Pigskin Prom. Later, the annual Pic Parade featured the crowning of King Ivan and Queen Ann, and gave us a chance to exchange chums. School closed for Christmas vacation with the Choir ' s Snow Whirl, the one all-school formal. Between semesters, Martha and George Washington were crowned at the Cherry Tree Hop, an annual dance given by the Girl ' s Glee Club. Throughout the basketball season, after-game dances were sponsored by Student Affairs Board. March 17 was the date of the ROTC ' s Military Ball. Dances in the cafeteria on both Junior and Senior Days highlighted these two memorable occasions. Later in the spring, were the Junior and Senior Proms. Sharon Smith, Ivian Editor, crowns Larry Short King Ivian at the Pic Parade, sponsored by the yearbook. Lynda Haas wears the crown as Queen Ann.
