' Tffcutual Manualites are busy from morning till night during the school year, keeping up with full schedules around the clock. This year ' s clock has been a confusing one, however, because the school has been on Central Standard Time and the city on Daylight Saving Time, making school clocks and home clocks disagree. We arrived at school at 7 o ' clock, having left home at 7:30. In spite of the time difference, the same busy schedule of activities had to be sandwiched into the same number of waking hours. A ninth period was added to Manual ' s school day to allow for our growing population; and an unofficial tenth period provided for conferences, meet- ings, rehearsals, and parties. Many evenings found the building ahum with public performances, dances, or parent-group activities.

School Day Begins Hoisting of the flag by the ROTC Color Guard marks the beginning of each day. Pupils pour into the building and ready themselves for classes as Radio Station WMHS broadcasts a Good Morn- ing with the daily before-school show. Usually this comes from the radio room on the second floor; but occasionally it ' s a Man on the Street interview program. Manager Arnold Dale and Chief Engineer Chuck Huppert set up a micro- phone in the hall or, if the weather permits, out of doors. Station signs off just in time for all partici- pants to make first-hour classes.
