Variety to Our Education Interspersed throughout the year are auditorium programs of a cultural, educational, and entertain- ing nature. Because there are so many of us, the auds must be divided into two sessions, which come just before and after home-room period. Our aud programs kicked off with the annual Ivian show, featuring an ' Tve-Got-A-Secret skit with a panel of experts and guests. Students discovered in the next aud that Manual is teeming with talent. Manualites danced, sang, tumbled, and joked to the delight of the audience in the Teepee Talent Parade. Other programs included a concert by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, two science shows demonstrating the latest techniques in the field of science, and the all-school Christmas pro- gram by the Music Department. When we get to- gether for a pep session, everyone goes to the gym for one program as we did for the big Sectional send-off. A Senior Anne Norcross told us of her visit to the U.N. as a member of the team from Indianapolis schools. VJ! ' I Linda Fritche, Steve Wright, Sandy White, Georgann Coldren, Merrilyn Lindley, Pat Stacy, and John Stafford broadcast a P. A. skit for Home Rooms. Conductor Izler Solomon and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra presented an hour-long concert for us.

All -School Assembly Programs Add Color, Typical Home Room scene on Friday is faces buried deep in Boosters. Freshmen in Room 130 won The Ivian ' s treat by going over the top in Ivian sales. Home Room Period marks the first break in Man- ual ' s busy day. All of us attend Home Room for the recording of official attendance, filling out school record forms, and taking care of any other school routine matters that require attention. Public Ad- dress announcements at this time give information about activities going on that are of interest to all and notify us of club meetings and rehearsals. Oc- casionally, skits are broadcast after announcements by clubs or classes to publicize activities or cele- brate special days. It is during Home Room time that the Ivian agents sell subscriptions, and ticket sales are promoted. Friday is Booster day, and agents distribute copies of The Booster to all pupils and faculty members. Seniors attend Home Room in the Cafeteria, so they are all together once each day, making it possible to have call meetings and special announcements pertaining to them only. As part of The Ivian ' s annual sales campaign, an auditorium skit, patterned after the TV show I ' ve Got A Secret, gave a preview of the yearbook ' s contents.

ROTC Cadets Serve, Parade For Manual Our ROTC grew so much this year that by second semester we were entitled to a full colonel as cadet commander. All cadets are in uniform on Thurs- day and Friday, and the six Honorary Cadets ro- tate the Friday duty of personal inspection of all soldiers. Uniformed cadets are on duty at all evening events at Manual, serving as guards, guides, and messengers. Our rifle team proved to be real sharpshooters, winning second place in city com- petition. Other special ROTC groups are the His- tory Club and the Drill Team. High spot of the year was the annual Military Ball on March 13. From a field of 14 candidates, a Queen of the Ball was chosen — Joan Scholl. Cadet Lt. Col. Gerald Peats and Honorary Lt. Col. June Kistler greet Gen. Theodore S. Riggs, who visited Manual in October on a routine inspection tour. Pfc. Phillip Bell, Generals Aide, marches with the Colo- nels in the Veteran ' s Day Parade. ROTC ' s from all city high schools participated in the colorful event.
