Shirley Pedigo recites by driving classmates through Garfield Park. Many Grads return annually for Homecoming. Richard Hadley, a student guide on Students-in-Industry Day, explains the operation of a Canco machine to visitors. School officials, teachers and pupils of Manual, parents, and friends were all invited. Enterprise in Operation . . . i In November Mrs. Edna Gullett ' s Ameri- can Problems classes had a month-long study of America ' s free enterprise system. This Students-in-Industry project used the American Can Company to bridge the gap between classroom studies and the realities of the actual business world. After having daily visiting teachers from Canco, the study ended with Stu- dents-in-Industry Day. Selected students served as counterparts of various Canco employees and assisted in the actual management and operation of the plant. Student Plant Manager Jack Patterson dictates to his secretary, Donna Von Pein. Plant Manager N. D. Deitrich looks on approvingly. 15
