The players of the original 1928 team were honored at a half time ceremony during the Emmaus vs. Quakertown game. Original 1928 Football Team 68 Pride And Determination This season was full of excitement, accomplishments, and disappointments. The 4-5-2 record does not truly indicate the amount of pride and determination possessed by the players and coaching staff of the 1978 team. The highlights of the sea- son were a tie with Easton, ranked third in the state, and wins over Allen, Northampton, and Quakertown. Seniors Mike Roos and Scott Crossley, and junior Scott Carraher, were selected for the first team All League squad. The J.V. team had a very impressive season with a 7-3-1 record. They are looking forward to playing on the varsity squad next year. This helps to cut down on football injuries during football season. Members of this club participate in a power lifting meet, sponsored by Allen High School, held in May in which trophies and other prizes are awarded. Front Row: Scott Fick. Cramer and Co., a leading supplier of sportsmedicine products. These Student Trainers then assisted members of the various ath- letic teams during the year by taping and wrapping; giving whirlpools and other treatments, and caring for minor injuries on the field. A special thanks goes to these students for helping E.H.S.’ trainer, Mr. Richardson. Pictured at left: John Thompson. Sharon Krupa, Randy Krail, Mr. Richardson, Brian Ruch. Every couple is introduced to Marryin' Sam and he does his stuff. Mouths are stuffed with marsh- mallows and popcorn balls, and kids climb on top of each other to form high pryamids. This is one of the best times to get together with good friends before we leave to go our separate ways after we graduate. SENIOR CLASS PRESENTS “THE ODD COUPLE” FELICIA AND OLIVE? The Class Play for Ihe class of '79 was a new and original version of Neil Simon's The Odd Couple. In this adaption of the modern classic all roles normally played by males were played by females, turning Felix and Oscar into Fele- cia (Sue Pappas) and Olive (Mel Batman). The EHS version of the play turned the tables on the original version by high-lighting the slop- piness of Olive with the neatness and finickiness of Felicia. Great thanks and appreciation is extended to Mr. Kohl for his time devoted to directing the play. 133 PEP RALLIES LEAD TO Turkey Day is here again and everyone prepares for Ihe exciting football game — KHS vs. WHS. Students plaster the walls with victory signs, create a massive wood pile ready to be lit the night before the game and a pep rally is scheduled to get the team and fans psyched. Finally, as the big day arrives, cheers and intense excitement fill the school, especially in the gym where the pep rally takes place. Soul Brothers perform a skit to show the tale of the history of the Emmaus — Whitehall Rivalry. Pep Club sets-up a treacherous obstacle course for the faculty and football team to compete against each other. And Lee Hamscher is crowned as the 1979 Football Queen. Although we lost in honorable defeat, the memories of the excitement and spirit of Thanksgiving Day at EHS will linger on in each devoted Hornet fan. 134 SENIORS AT WORK This year, the Senior Class worked diligently at selling cheese to support the Class of 1979. The cheese sale proved to be profitable. Students also work hard on homework to prepare for tomorrows classes. Seniors participate in other activities such as the Advanced Gym class which keeps students in shape and on their hands, and group efforts such as . . . keeps students together. 136 A Trip With The Dolphins This year’s Dolphin Club under the direction of Miss Karin Lange was comprised of 15 members, grades 9-12 from Emmaus High School and both (unior High Schools. The members of the club were: Stacey Cooney (President). Natalie Seibert (Vice-President), Cheryl Dreisbach (Secretary), Robin Lee DeLorenzo (Treasurer), Jenny Griffen. Sue Miller, Barb Mohr, Lisa Wetzel. Laure Cooney, Ruth Cavalier, Mary Arce, Debbie Creisbach. Mary Ellen Russo. Jen- nifer Robinson, and Michele Mutchler. The theme of this year’s show was Odyssey into Tomor- row . and the audience was taken on an intergalactica” tour as the members performed routines depicting different star systems. 137 DID YOU HEAR ABOUT . . . On March 29, 30, 31 the public received one of the most enjoyable and lively spring musicals of Emmaus High School, Bye-Bye Birdie. The play was a success after long hours of hard, dedicated work. The story takes place in the 1950’s — bobby socks, duck-tails, and the Sweet Apple Fan Club (honoring Conrad Birdie). Scott Rentschler, Conrad, performed fantastically along with Sue Pappas and Mark Crossley. The MacAfee Family held together while Kim MacAfee awaited her big kiss from Conrad. Great appreciation is extended to the director. Sharon Glass- man, and the choreographer. Mark Bodkin. BYE BYE BIRDIE” CAPTURE THE MOMENTS . . . The Junior Prom was just the beginning for the class of ’80. They have one more year to spend together as a family until they go their separate ways. Among shades of peach, orange, and white, the juniors danced to the music of “Jynx in the Lehigh Valley Club, on the evening of June 1. Many thanks are extended to the mem- bers of the Prom Committee who helped in making the evening an enchanting suc- cess. 140 . . . JUNIOR PROM “TIME IN A BOTTLE” 141 CN - J Senior Ball “Everybody Has A Dream” The Senior Ball will be remembered by the graduates of 79 as they move on to a promising future. On May 19, Seeger's Union was deco- rated with white satin tablecloths, tum- blers and brandy snifters, and hand- made silk roses. Great thanks is extended to Mrs. Schlegel for her time and generous help. Missy Grupen. escorted by Dave Her- bine, was honored as Senior Ball Queen. The queen and the rest of the court danced to Everybody Has a Dream” performed by The Johnny Cass Band . This was an evening that is worth remembering as we enter the beginning of a bright new world.
