Mr. Becker Miss Strouse Mr. Warden Clam History The fall of 1942 was a lucky season for Emmaus High School because it was then that the Class of '46 began its high school career. We were a bit green as freshmen but now as seniors, we are ready to go out into the World with confidence. Being an intelligent group, it didn,t take us very long to get into the stride of work and play in high school. In our freshman year, We chose Robert Kahle as our President, Marie Brown, Vice-President, and Charles Hersh as our Secretary. They were very competent and the term Went smoothly. Our only activity for the year was the 'AVictory Minstrel , which was a success both in entertainment and Financially. Providing the comedy were Velda Mae Haas, Priscilla Brahler, Lois Hamscher, Bruce Knauss, Russell Ganey, and Robert Kahle. As sophomores, We were less self-conscious and secretly laughed at the poor misguided freshmen. Richard Wieand was our President for the term, with Velma Gould as Vice-President, and Barbara Schreiber as Secretary. Our activity for this year was the Sophomore Cottilionu--dance to most of us-which did considerable good for our treasury. We had several boys in our class who played varsity football and basketball, making us proud of our class. The term as a Whole, however, passed without very much excitement. Second only to the seniors! Finally our junior year had arrived. How superior we felt to the mere freshmen! Richard Wieand and Barbara Schreiber held the same offices as in the previous year, with Bruce Knauss moving up to the rank of Vice-President. CLASS OFFICERS Barbara Schreiber, Sec., Miss Strouse Treas.: Bruce Knauss, V. Pres Richard Wieand, Pres. held in the high school gymnasium. The main event, and one we had all been anxiously awaiting, was the Iunior Prom. At the first signs of spring plans were begun for this exciting affair. The special feature of the Prom was the crowning of Barbara Schreiber as Queen. She was crowned with a laurel of flowers and sat on a beautiful throne prepared by the artistic members of our class. It was the first formal for many and oh! what a thrill. Monday after the prom, the school was buzzing with an account of where everyone had gone and how late they had stayed out. The last function of the year was the Senior Farewellu at which we bid the graduating class a very sad adieu. Finally we became seniors and were second to none. What a year! We had the same executive group as in the junior year. The last year was the hardest, with bills to pay and a yearbook to prepare. Everyone had plenty of work to do. But there wasn't enough work to do to keep everyone out of mischief. We kept Mr. Heller busy from 8 in the morning till 4 in the afternoon. Seven senior girls started the year by being suspended the second week of school. The senior class play, Mr. and Mrs. Northw, was one of the big jobs of the year, which proved to be an enormous success. Right on the heels of the play, we sponsored the Thanksgiving dance, The Turkey Hopn. The Snowball Frolicn started the Christmas vacation with a bang. In honor of George Washington's birthday we gave Ye Old Hatchet Swing . The Senior Ball was the biggest event of our entire high school career. You heard plans being made from the beginning of the term. The ball was the last senior affair with everyone having a wonderful time. The year ended with Baccalaureate services and Commencement, which were the most serious of our high school activities. And thus passed our four years of high school. Page E I even
