Q fffgf Ek l -T Q4 Hisronv oe 'rue BUILDING ' The Emaus High School was organized in 1888, having a two year course. 1 In 1890 the first class graduated, two in number. There was only one teacher who was also the Supervising Principal..About 10 yezms later another teacher was added Qi and the course was extended to three years. The jefferson School Building was erected in 101-l under the supervision of f' the presiding Board of Education, namely:- R. S. Stoneback, President: ll. L. 'tj Romich, Vice President, C. F. Wagner, Secretaryg Isl. M. llinnershitz, Treasurer: g. ,Q A. R. srmh. Architectural work was done by Ephriam Pickins, and the contracting by Arthur P. Houser. However, when the building was erected in IQI4 all that it con- . sisted of was the eight rooms fronting the street. - r- W About 1020 there were seventy pupils enrolled, making expansion almost a 7- necessity. In 1923 the West Wing, Auditorium and Gymnasium were added. This EA did not suffice so in 1926 the East Wing was added.
