from each class. These people love their school and care about what’s happening in it. Some of their duties are planning fire drills, scheduling school wide parties, organizing the Safety Patrol and seeking answers to problems and questions arising in the stu- dent body. Our thanks goes to the Student Council for the great job they are doing. 38 39 A Group Organized To Cindy Hatchell Administration Editor Shan Grant Organizations and Events 40 Preserve Sweef Memories The Crusader staff begins its job in the summer selling adver- tisements, and it continues throughout the year until the last deadline is completed. Starting The Year With God Our high school takes a trip at the beginning of the year to the Wilds. We have only been there twice and each time we teenag- ers have come home with a dif- ferent outlook on our school. The trip is like a tiny revival, God is so real up there because you are miles away from a town. We have fun times and serious times with God. He is our honored guest. 74 God Shows Us The Right Path The rock burn is a result of our trip to the Wilds. Some of the teenagers, while at the Wilds, came under conviction about lis- tening to non-christian music. This activity was arranged by our youth pastor Mike Cassidy. He arranged it so that we could burn all of our rock music. 75 c H R I S T I A N Personalities of '77 76 7th — Lisa Tolbert and Johnny Carr 8th — Billy Smith and Karen Hutto 9th — Tammy Johnson and Brian Evans 11th — Mary Bustle and Derrick Braddock 12 th — Joan Hunsucker and Doug Babcock The Christian Teenager A Christian teenager should . . . Be slow to lose patience. Look for a way to be constructive, even when provoked. Not envy the good fortune of others. Refrain from trying to impress others with his own importance. Have good manners. Think the best, not the worst, of others; he should try to be as wise as the serpent and as harmless as a dove in handling others. Above all else, exhibit the love of Christ in his heart and life. 77 Whatever It Takes We held our annual homecom- ing festivities this past February. The theme Whatever It Takes was expressed in song and testi- mony. All of the girls became close during this period of time because Christ was the one they were admonishing. Miss Joan Hunsucker was crowned the 1978-1979 Miss Crusader. 78 Left page: TOP LEFT — Miss Crusader 1977, Romona McManus says her last goodbyes. A large sum of money was earned because many of the students sold tickets. Many of the high school students were involved in the program, each of the choirs sang and the band played. Each student’s talent was a great asset to such an outstanding Christmas program. 80 TOP — Much talent is shown as Mary and Joseph, baby Jesus, and the angels glorify God. TOP RIGHT — The wise men seek Jesus. BOTTOM LEFT — The prophets proclaim Jesus' birth. BOTTOM RIGHT — The wise men praise God. Not too many years ago you could count the number of Sonoco plants on one hand. Likewise the types of paper products we made. It’s a different story today, as our products number in the hundreds, with many manufactured from plastics and metal. And they’re made at more than 40 plants throughout the United States. What’s more, our manufacturing technology now extends beyond our borders to such faraway countries as Japan, Great Britain, Venezuela and Australia. In fact, we currently have subsidiary and affiliated companies in 17 foreign countries. Our expertise in the production of textile cones and tubes, composite cans and solid fibre partitions for packaging, and construction products is used by many of these overseas companies to manufacture the same quality products for their customers. Yes, Sonoco is growing in world markets, just as it’s doing here at home. Sonoco Products Company Growing with Paper, Plastic and Metal Products for Industry Corporate Offices • Hartsville, S. C.
