The Future Leaders 0 America Mrs. Barbara Hart, advisor of the Future Homemakers of America, guided fifty-six am- bitious members in a very active year. Some highlights of the year were the style show, water- melon feed, and the Christmas party. Officers for 1967-1968 were: Pres.-Marna Weeldreyer, V-Pres. -Carol Mayer, Sec. -Lavonne Voss, Treas.-Carolyn Roskens, Rep.-Marjean Scharnber, His. -Karen Wethor, Par. -Helen Mc- Cormick, Song leader-Sandra johnson. The Future Farmers of America was advised by Mr. john Begeman. This group held monthly meetings and sponsored many social activities such as the hayride for the FHA. They raised money for their organization by selling fence insulators and fruit. FFA officers were: Pres.-Royce Huber, V- Pres. -Eldon Fauth, Sec. -Danny Olinger, Treas. - Sidney Wahl, Rep. -Greg Roskins, Sentinel-Nick Ernester.

Librarians Made Treasures Available The Emery High School library was staffed with thirteen competent students. Sophomore, junior, and senior girls made up the staff. They gave a great deal of their time and effort to make the library an efficient place to study. Many new books were added this year. The bi- ography section was increased by the addition of many new volumes. A new Periodical Series was added too. Many magazines were bound again this They Spoke or Us After several weeks, of dedicated practice, the local declamation contest was held on October 26, 1967 in the study hall of E.H.S. The contest was judged by Kenneth Huggins of Dakota Wesleyan Uni- year completing many of the volumes. This year numerous audiovisual aids were pur- chased for use in the high school. A new feature was added to the library this year in the form of a guidance file. A shiny, new magazine file was added this year. It held twenty-seven magazines that were on our subscription list. Even though only four of these students took first-place honors at the local contest, everyone's dramatic ability was demonstrated. versity. The winners who represented Emery at the district contest were: Carol Determan, Dramatic, julie Jung, Humor- ousg Wayne Werning, Oratoryg and Clinton Langle, Poetry. This group was coached by Mr. Smith.

These slick chicks, Sandy johnson and Vicky Heitzman, are getting ready for their fat cats. Let's get together on this! Gene Ernster relates this sad tale of woe to his pals, Dale Werning and Clyde Bartel. Juniors Presented 66L0ve Is Too Much Trouble On November 2 and 3 the junior class presented their first class play entitled, Love Is Too Much Trouble. The scene of the play took place in a college eating place, known as the Poison Pot. It was located just off the campus of Ivy Gate College. The time is spring, shortly before the Junior Prom. Pinky Hamilton fGene Ernsterj, big time operator, upset everyone by his con- stant nagging for money for the Prom. He makes the Poison Pot the headquarters for his schemes. This upset the owner Toasty fCarolyn Roskensj and finally resulted i.n the closing of the Poison Pot. The play ended hilariously, proving the theme that Love Is Too Much Trouble. Well done to the members of the cast and to their able director Miss Harrington. A fine performance was given by these juniors. They are from fleft to rightj BACK ROW: G. Ernster, C. Bartel, C.
