Effort Paid Dividends 'SH' wr-if The paper staff, under the supervision of Miss Shirley Harrington, worked en- ergetically each week to put forth the voice of Emery High School, The Wheel. The students did their share of work by ' writing various feature stories and ' editorials. This year, journalism was offered for the first time as a specific class. The class studied journalism, and edited the Emery Wheel. This was the first year that journalism was included as a regular part of the school curriculum. On October 7, the Emery Wheel editors attended the South Dakota High School Press Association Convention in Brook- ings. This group of editors enjoyed their outing and went home with many ideas for improving the school paper. Each week these ten students worked hard to write the material that went into the fine school paper published this past year. Co-editors Wayne Werning and Gloria Hill fbe- sides writing articlesj also proofread each article before it was published in the paper. Their enthusiastic spirit inspired the pep club and other fans to really yell for the team. These young ladies proved their loyalty time, and time again with their leadership, friendliness, and high spirit. They put in many long hours preparing cheers for the games. Their efforts were not i.n vain as they did a very fine job i.n representing Emery in all the athletic activities. Besides cheering, the girls had other jobs such as preparing signs for the school as- sembly and auditorium. They also helped and guided the pep club members. These eight students worked many hours to produce this fine annual. Eagle Staff Recorded '68 Memories The eight members of the 1967-1968 annual staff worked diligently to produce another yearbook full of many memories. Every Tuesday and Thursday after- noon was spent writing and rewriting. A great deal of labor and midnight oil was spent to make this annual what it is today. Even though it was hard work, it was a rewarding experience. Late in the third nine- weeks, subscriptions were sold to the student body. Mr. Smith, the annual staff advisor, offered advice and help wherever it was needed. Each picture and phrase was carefully chosen to point up memories and highlights of the past school year. These staff members glance over some material for the 1968 annual.
