Emery County High School 1965 - 1966 Dear Students, One of the many freedoms we enjoy is freedom of the press. The publishing of the yearbook is an exercise of this freedom. There are numerous opportunities in school and in everyday life as we grow up to practice and learn the meaning of freedom and the responsibilities that accompany this privilege. As we goto press this year, we are confronted by the fact that despite the many efforts to obtain peace, our nation is involved in a negotiated war. Two hundred thousand Americans are now fighting in Viet Nam and it is expected that this figure will double in the near future. While this is taking place, many so-called American citizens are busily fighting the draft and at the same time fighting to deprive many citizens of their rights as free citizens. I hope that we as Americans will constantly evaluate ourselves and our values and feelings for freedom and see that we are doing our part as citizens of a great country; may we accept our responsibility and do our partto pro- tect all these freedoms we enjoy.
