They all tried to smile, with varying success. As you all know, Emersonians have played the game since the school opened. The school's archives contain pictures Qsome of them reproduced in this bookj proving that since its inception, Emerson fand its predeces- sor Peckham Vocational Schoolj has been sports-minded. The old saw about it not being whether you won or lost but how you played the game does not apply here. Sportsmanship is as MUCH A PART OF THE CURRICULUM AS IS SHOP. We think it makes the Emerson man stand out. 82
