June, 1965 Dear Emersonians: The Class of 1965 has earned the affection and esteem of both faculty and administration® You have a fine record of campus leadership in these past four years of growth and development® You will undoubtedly make an equally fine record as an alumni class with a real concern for the continued progress of your College® We expect to be proud of your response to the call for con- tinued individual growth and development demanded by our age® We are confident that your services will always be in demand® Our society grows ever more dependent upon teamwork to use the overwhelming flow of new knowledge® This brings more and more need for those whose education has at once increased their capacity to learn and their capacity to communi- cate® My wish for you is that you may ever be striving for an achievable goal® This is the road to the happiness that accompanies effective use of our capacity for action, thought and feeling. May you never be content with only those things you may have without effort® May you never try short cuts which sacrifice integrity to avoid effort® May you waste little time dreaming of things completely beyond your reach® May you ever be striving for those worthwhile things you can reach if you will stretch® It is by such stretching that we grow in mind and spirit and in our standing with our fellow men® We are sorry to see you go. We will miss you® But we will look forward to your return with a record of achievement that will be a source of pride and inspiration to Emerson classes yet to come®
