He started an honours course in theology at St. David's College in 1915, but volunteered for military service during his first year there and saw two and one- half years of active service in the Balkans. After de- mobilization in 1919, he resumed studies at the Uni- versity College of Wales, Aberystwyth, and received B.A. and M.A. degrees there. He is a Fellow of the Royal Economic Society, a Fel- low of the Royal Historical Society, and a member of the Royal Society of Teachers. From 1924 to 1932 he was senior classics master and master in charge of physical training at Queen's School, Bristol. He has been Headmaster of the County School at Cardigan since 1932. He was Mayor of Cardigan in 1944 and 1945. He serves on the Bench of Magistrates and on the Lord Chancellor's advisory committee on the appointment of justices of the peace. During World War II Mr. Evans as a Colonel in the Reserves headed the Home Guard activities in Cardi- ganshire. At Elyria High he has taught classes in American His- tory and in Social Problems. In the northeastern part of Ohio he has responded to almost 100 calls from Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, American Legion, P. T. A., Y. M. C. A., Y .W. C. A., and church groups for addresses. At vacation times he has travelled to the Pacific and Southern states and will, he says, enjoy recalling expe- riences in 35 of the 48 states. He is especially appreciative of the courteous and kind- ly treatment accorded him by Superintendent Eibling and Principal Wilson, he says.
