9 .ilu Hllvmnriam ,james EE. Agate .lames lf. Agate, known among his friends as Jimmy, son of Clerk of Courts H. lf. Agate and lllrs. Agate, died on August 13, 1033 from burns received when a gasoline- lired steamer exploded when he was removing wall paper. He played guard and tackle on the football team. He had lived in Elyria all his life and l1ad attended the public schools here throughout his educational career. illllr- Cllharlez M. Zlinppes Charles VV. Koppes, science and mathematics teacher at Elyria High for 26 years, passed away February 5, 1939. He was a graduate of Ohio VVesleyan University. Prior to his teaching here, he had been superintendent of schools at Kingsville and at Sullivan for there years and eight years respectively. He took an active interest in the activities of the lllethodist Episcopal Church, especially the Sunday School. His widow, lylrs. Ma1'yf Koppes, survives as do llwight and XVayne, both gradu- ates of lf. H. S. Dwight is in the advertising department of the Curtis Publishing Company at Philadelphia. Several of his short stories have been published. YVayne is professor of achitecture: at Renssalaer l'olytechnic Institute at Troy, New York. mr. Cllharlez 2113. millianm Charles RI. VVilliams, attendance olzlicer of the Elyria Public Schools for the last ten years, passed away February 5. He served as teacher and principal at the old Lake Avenue School from 1890 to IQOI. lfntil 1917 he was busy helping to organize the manual training work under the direction of Superintendent VV. R. Comings. He served as County Clerk of Courts for six years, spent a year in Florida, and was teacher and principal at the Lake Avenue County School from 1026 to IQZS. He is survived by his wife and one son Ralph, who lives in Detroit and who is an lf. H. S. graduate. Eight
