All of our projects — prom, homecoming, dances, and candy sales — would never have gotten off the ground without the help of our dedicated class sponsors: Raeanna Merritt, Anna Mae McQuitty, David Middle- ton, and Richard Herndon. They stood by us and gave advice when we didn’t know where to begin. From all of us, to all of you, “Thank you, sponsors!” Mike Harris ponders over a problem of life — school. the pleasure of nominating five of our own lovely senior girls for homecoming queen. Anna Miller was elected to reign over the event with Julie Drake, Lisa Helpling, Kathy Melvin, and Beth Scircle as her court. September 17, 1977, will bring memories of joy, tears, and delight for many years to come. Prom 1977 was surely a big event to all who spent hours forming crepe paper and old pomps into an Oriental paradise. “Shangri-La” was our theme, carried out with snow-covered mountain murals and colorful Chinese lanterns. We were especially proud of the beautiful paperweights made by St. Clair Glass, given to each girl who attended. Friday night brought couples dressed in tuxedos and flowing gowns, making it an evening to remember. So many fantastic things have happened to us in these four years, it would be impossible to mention them all in this small space. I suppose we should say a word to the underclassmen, though. Always take advantage of the opportunity to make new friends, to dare to be different, and to learn from your experiences.
