Penny Leisure shows concern for her team at a football game. complete with Mickey and reels of movie film. While working so long and so hard to put the finishing touches on our last Homecoming float, I think each one of us had a lump in his throat. The festivities were happy, though. there will be no more football games, no more catching up on the latest gossip during activity period. When I think about the accomplishments of our class, those homecoming floats are the first to come in mind. Remember Snoopy, with his red and blue doghouse? We ‘freshman Greenies” sure surprised everyone, including ourselves, by walking away with first place. And how in the world did that cereal box and checkered tablecloth ever make it our sophomore year? I still can’t figure that one out! Our junior float, “Pink Panther Power” was beautiful with every color imaginable, winning again the first prize. the pleasure of nominating five of our own lovely senior girls for homecoming queen. Anna Miller was elected to reign over the event with Julie Drake, Lisa Helpling, Kathy Melvin, and Beth Scircle as her court. September 17, 1977, will bring memories of joy, tears, and delight for many years to come. Prom 1977 was surely a big event to all who spent hours forming crepe paper and old pomps into an Oriental paradise. “Shangri-La” was our theme, carried out with snow-covered mountain murals and colorful Chinese lanterns. We were especially proud of the beautiful paperweights made by St. Clair Glass, given to each girl who attended. Friday night brought couples dressed in tuxedos and flowing gowns, making it an evening to remember.
