 A Dream Come True! Sectional Fever spread like fire in Elwood for Panther baseball fans last June of 1977, and it was carried to the team who went on to win the championship and bring home their First baseball sectional title. “A dream come true, was Mr. Floppel's comment after winning the game, along with praise for his athletes. “The 1977 baseball season was a great coaching experience!”, said Mr. Bomholt, adding, “We had great talent, coachable athletes, and enough desire to get the job done.” “The fan support from the students and adults was really tremendous. Much of our success was due to the many fans who came to back the Panthers.” — Coaches Bomholt and Hoppel The 1977 Panthers had all the tools; pitching, defense, and clutch hitting! The accomplishments of this great team will be hard to duplicate. (And remember, “A little fairy dust can do wonders!”)
