E.C.H.S. Presents: “Homecomin Homecoming 1977. Smiles and tears for many Panthers. Neither rain, nor wind could stop the festivities or the Elwood football team, who trounced the Tipton Blue Devils 7-0. Smiles for the juniors, who with their float, “Murder on the Panther Express,” received first place. All the floats were built with pride, including the sophomores, “Exercise Those Devils,” the seniors, “Cat and Mouse Magic,” and the freshmen float, “Kick the !!! Out of the Devils!” Anna Miller was crowned homecoming queen 1977 with tears of happiness and reigned over a spirited crowd. The Mighty Panther Marching Band, under the direction of Mr. Charles Haskett, teamed with the Tipton band for a dazzling halftime performance. October 8, 1977 was surely a day to remember! Stop and think about our town. What do you remember? The Glass Festival in spring, the smell of tomatoes from Fettig’s Canning Company, the fall painted trees in Callaway Park, the Fourth of July Parades or the Little League and Babe Ruth games? Then, too, all of us will remember Wendell L. Willkie, our most famous citizen who ran for president. Sometimes we’re out goofing around Elwood. and we get tired of the “L” and think that our town is a big bore! But when we’re away on vacation where the cities are crowded and noisy and we don’t know anyone and we get lost so easily, we wish we were back in Elwood with our friends. SECUItIT nm
