They Stepped into the Swing of Things, Struggled with Studies, But not all was sad for often they were too busy to think about these things. There were dances, basketball games, football games, and homework, which was often dreaded. The glamour of homecoming and a beautiful queen thrilled us. School life was filled with excitement as sectional time rolled around. Lockers were crammed so full that we could hardly close them, and tension mounted as report card time came near. But once again the end of the school year draws near. The prospect of summer vacation sends happy echoes throughout the halls of E.H.S. 6

In school the students have also made advancements. The freshmen have gradually grown accustomed to the homework and crowded halls. Sophomores have stepped up from freshmen and can now elect class officers. The junior class has made its appearance as upperclassmen entitling them to class rings, a play, and planning the prom. The seniors have advanced also, to their last year of high school. They can't seem to forget that this will be the last time they will share many experiences of high school life. They are beginning to think of what the future will hold, and wonder whether they will be ready to meet it. Responsibility and Gaining Maturity 5

Lived Life, Learned, and Liked It Some will be walking down these steps of Willkie for the last time, never to return again. If these stained and stolid walls could speak, what secret would they reveal? Are they merely masses of rock and mortar used only for a functional purpose? No, this and other buildings like it are living symbols of man's thirst and quest for truth and knowledge. As you go down the steps, out the door, and onto the sidewalk, stop, look back and up at the silent majesty of this building. Give it a smile and a Thank you before you go on your way. 7
