The member- ship may not include any more than ten percent of the junior and senior classes. All members are on probation until graduation at which time, if they have main- tained their requirements, they are made life members. The National Honor Society is a scholastic organization recognized throughout the nation. It was organized as an incentive for higher attainments by high school students, therefore, permanent membership in this organization is in- deed a proper reward for such attainments. Sunshine Societies are established in many communities throughout the nation. All g'irls.of high school age' are eligible for membership, The Elwood Society was organized in 1943, The Society hashhigh ideals and its goal rs to help needy, bring cheer and comfort to shut-ins. At Christmas time, the girls buy gifts for needy children. Each year, they sponsor a project to make money to contribute to the Riley Hospital at Indianapolis.
