Homecoming 1962 . . . Holiday in Music Holiday in Music was probably the best kept secret theme in the history of Elkville. Vergennes, and Elverado. The aim of the student council in presenting Homecoming 1962 was to make the first Elverado Homecoming a real success. Preparations were underway shortly after school started. Many late meetings were held at Miss Re's house for the purpose of ironing out small problems and getting all decorations ready to place in the gym. The theme was carried out in two colors - black and white. Although stark colors by themselves, the black and white streamers were softened by the addition of blue lights and a red carpet. One new feature of the decorations was that the crepe paper streamers all started at the center of the gym. This gave a canopied effect to the gym and led many people to guess that the theme would be Under the Big Top. The big night finally arrived, the decorations were up, the crowd was in suspense, and then coro- nation began. Cathy Re was crowned Homecoming queen and led her subjects in enjoying Holiday in Music. Queen Cathy and Court . . . LEFT TO RIGHT: Randy Carter. Jinx Maksin, Bill Fenton.
