Arsenic and Old Lace Moment by moment each cast mem- ber tas well as everyone else involvedt prepares and readies themselves for the final moment of truth. Research of the character, learning many lines, blocking scenes, and getting into their characters is all part of being in a play. Arsenic and Old lace was the fall play performed November 9th and 10th 1985. It involved a number of people all of whom contributed to the success of the show. The director who helped the students with the job they were faced with was l'H tas most students refer to Mr. Holdcraftl As the story opens Abby Brewster tplayed by Laura Holdcraftt is enter- taining Rev. Dr. Harper tKurt Brei- chaftl. They are chatting about Elaine Harper tplayed by Mark Frey and Heather Lohset Meanwhile as Rev. Dr. Harper leaves. Martha. Abby's sister, enters stage right, she is talking rapidly Teddy lAturo Pososl discusses his plans to dig the Panama Canal With his Aunts Curtain Call Jonathon lTim Winski; tries to eliminate his brother Mortimer tMark Freyi about all she had been up to while she was out. Both were exchanging thoughts about the afternoon activi- ties Abby kept trying to tell Martha what she had been up to while she, Martha. had been out but Martha would not stop talking. Yet before Abby could get to the point their nephew's girlfriend Elaine comes in looking for her father and Mortimer. Mortimer comes in greeted by Elaine and his two aunts. Time passes, dialogue is ex- changed. Elaine leaves, Abby and Mar- tha are in the kitchen preparing tea and Mortimer is looking everywhere for a recently written chapter of his book. He looks in drawers. cabinets. and aim- lessly opens the window seat only to discover not his chapter but a dead body. The continuation of the play is exactly how and why there is a dead body in the window seat. a ,ih ??3: November 9th. Curtain Time '
