22 Events Homecoming Brings Bright Spot To Dim Season Homecoming is a time-honored tradition of Elston Senior High. This year, clubs and organizations chose their candidates, and the thirty girls were presented to the student body at a two-hour morning assemblyfpep session on October 18th. Students voted by homeroom sections, and cheers and relays passed the time while votes were being tallied. The five finalists, Iris Baumgartner, representing Office Messengers, Linda Brown, Student Council, Rosanne Espar, Band, Kay Rusboldt, Hall Monitors, and Laurie Shover, Science Club, were then announced, and each was asked an unrehearsed question by Principal Warren Jones. The final choice for the 1974-75 queen was not announced until halt-time exercises at the Homecoming game that night. Dennis Saffer, Senior Class President, acted as emcee, and last year's queen, Elaine Janasiak, announced the new Queen. The game was somewhat less than a decisive victory for the Devils, but spirits were high as Rosanne Espar was crowned by her predecessor and received a bouquet of flowers, along with congratulations, from Mr. Jones. 24 Events EIston's Odd Couple Goes On Stage On November 22, 1974, Neil Simons Broadway hit, The Odd Couple, was presented at Elston. Performing on stage forthe first time was Dave McGowan, playing Oscar Madison. The story revolved around the disruption of Oscar's unorganized lite by his tastidious friend, Felix Ungar. Felix was played by Dave Block. Directing the play was Mrs. Dunlop, and assisting her as student director was Mike Finger. The whole cast performed hilariously, aided by an untidy set, designed by technical director, Mr. l-loldcraft. f mf f 'ig -- ,witrf ri T , 41 iw' hvf T Q irrr Q- ,l W? . tgl, ,g,, 2 vW,,iy,,g,,,1,,,, gr ' 1-, f'i'.l3f:si,i Vi... ,-V I :
