Humungous Problems End Scientifically Spectrophotometertt is no longer a word that sounds like science fic- tion to Elstonts science students. Along with Mettler balanceh and Sartorious balance, it has invaded daily conversations of Physics, Ad- vanced Science, and Chemistry stu- dents. The Mettler balance measures mass to the nearest milligram and the Sartorious measures mass to the nearest centigram. The spectropho- tometer accurately determines parts per million of particles in solution. Science department heads made final plans for Rogers High lab and selected equipment and chemicals to be used. It remains a mystery to the non- scientific mind whether one orders spectrophotometers by the dozen, gross, or one at a time. Don Cook jots statistics on physics problems. Pat OtNeill uses physics principles to measure distant objects.

Tennis Team Nets Experience When a team faces a new season with no returning lettermen, they must accept it as a year to obtain ex- perience. This was the case with the 1970 tennis team. Under the circum- stances, a record of 3 wins and 8 loss- es was not unacceptable. Inexperience was not the Devils only problem. Two starting seniors, Dave Bentley and Eric Papunen, saw limited action due to illness, and the Northern Indiana Conference is al- ways one of the toughest in the state. However, the season was not a total loss. The Red Devils captured 6th place out of 16 teams in the Lafay- ette Doubles Tourney, and 6th in the South Bend Sectional. Dave Bentley was a conference finalist in the no. 3 singles. Next year, 17 out of the 21 boys out for tennis last year will return and a turnabout of events is likely. Front Row: D. Bently, M.
