Since only two lettermen were re- turning from the previous year, many said a .500 season would be all this years Cross Country team would be capable of accomplishing. Howev- er, the boys on the team knew better. In compiling a record of 17 wins and 1 loss, the Devils took the Con- ference title and Sectional title. They came in 4th in the regionals and 12th in state competition, placing high in assorted invitationals. This perform- ance was due to the unity and total dedication of the team. Co-captains Mike Trout and Terry Rusboldt led the attack, with underclassmen, Mark Wagner, Bruce Hoffmaster, Jeff Trout, Greg Holda, and Charles Thomas all turning in good perform- ances. Mike Trout was named most valuable runner, and Terry Rusboldt most improved. Mr. Fischer must be justly proud of coaching 3 straight conference winning teams.
