Hard Working Juniors Decorate Gym For t68 Prom The junior class cmnbmcd tmccs and transformed lhc schoulk uudltunum IHIH the Land of thc Munchkins. cumplctc with Dorothyk fallen houxc and the twisted yellow-brick mud. livcn the wicked old Witch of the West hung from the ceiling. 0n the stage stood the massive head of 01.. The students constructed it with Haring rcd cycs und cuntortcd tcuturcs. Smoke pourcd up in trunk 01' II from cuntruptiuns arranged on thc Hour. To hide the girders. the boys hung huge parachutes on the wires strung up by the janitors. While doing this. they tcctcrcd treacherously atop tull scaffolds. The girls, meanwhile. had settled on the Hour and bleachers or whatever space was available to draw and cut out the many figures of Dorothy. the Lion, the Scarccrow. and thc Tin Man. The small bridge. surrounded by u ficld of puppies. led from Munchkjnland to Emerald City. The ceiling slowly takes shape as the prom decorating committee struggles with the parachutes. When they had finished, the Land Of OZ was recreated in all its glory. Charlene Pluta sketches figures for the prom decorations. Making flnal adjustments on the parachutes, which serve as ceiling. are Lee Lonzo and Dan Guse.
