Administrators, faced with scheduling classes for everyone, suddenly realized that there were too few rooms in the build- ing and too few hours in the day, study hall spilled over into the Christian Church, and many classrooms were occupied for eight hours without respite. To us the population explosion meant that lockers were more packed and the south stairs even less passable. But in later years we will not remember the congestion and inconven- ience, rather, we will focus our attention on those typical but meaningful moments of our high school years: facing new schedules, new teachers, new challenges on the first day of school in fall, hearing the crackle of a LaPorte bonfire on a crisp football night, lingering in the halls to discuss a testg fighting for a corner of the rest room mirror, cheering, laughing, crying at bas- ketball tournamentsg struggling with a chemis- try experiment, paying library fines, working on Junior Concessions and then the Prom, cramming for finals, eagerly scanning the new ELSTON- IANSQ and Hnally, graduating. But we do not ever really leave, for our minds return often to focus on our year, 1964.
